Alison De La Cruz has created original solo and collaborative performance work since 1999, sharing intersectional stories of bigger-bodied queerness of color in De La Cruz’s shows SUNGKA (1999); TALES FROM THE HIP (2002); WHERE YOU STAY? (2004), LA MALONG MALONG (2011), and SMOKE & MIRRORS (2012).
De La Cruz has led at the intersections of dramaturgy, adaptation, youth development, generative processes, community organizing, dialogue, workforce investment and playwrighting on over 11 Youth Arts productions by Shakespeare Center Los Angeles, About Productions, East West Players, and Japanese American Cultural & Community Center.
De La Cruz’s directing credits include the world premiere of Nathan Ramos’ AS WE BABBLE ON (2018, East West Players), Claudia Rodriguez’s MIDNIGHT STEEL (2016, Grand Performances / DCA); Post Natyam Collective’s SUPER RUWAXI (2014, Fury Factory), East West Players’ EVOKE FESTIVAL (2013 & 2012), TeAda Productions’ TEADAWORKS (2010 & 2008). Alison was honored to be included in 100 Filipino Americans for an exhibit in 2006.
